Dialectical Moralism, National Interest, and Foreign Policy: The Case of United States and Pakistan

US foreign policy throughout the history is replete with moralistic rhetoric – pursuance of American moral principles embodied in declaration independence, constitution, and repeated doctrines presidents. Yet careful examination its reveals that it remained mostly amoral nature, is, devoid any or immoral essence. It has pursued national self-interest which dynamic because changing geopolitical environment region world. Use religion since Pakistan’s independence to align against godless communist Soviet Union, neglecting nuclear program greater during 1980s, supporting military governments Pakistan while being biggest proponent democracy world, use drone warfare violating sovereignty international law, are few amoralistic policies by United States towards Pakistan. The study concludes have/will continue as a leverage pressurise entice do bidding case failing, utilise same tool distance itself from Pakistan, when interests served.
